Narosia Game Content Is DONE!
How Did We Do?
Well, good and bad, delays aside (obviously not good). The good news is that my (Shane’s) bottle-necking is over, but the project isn’t complete. We overshot our budgeted words by almost double, although I think the content is everything we wanted to present originally. But…
… we will not have a book by GenCon. I’m sorry, I truly am, but we just won’t make it.
We have restarted the editing process and I have funded the additional editing expense since we overshot that budget.
When will the book be ready? I am not 100% sure. Originally we had blocked time with editing, layout, and fictional content for their parts and all art is in. But now we have to fit into their current schedules as best we can. We could get lucky or that could introduce more delay. I am getting that information now and will share it as soon as I have confirmed. I hope that I can have a PDF by GenCon but that is going to be really tight.
Risks
We have more content than we originally budgeted for. I would like to publish with the content we have, but we have to look at the costs. We originally budgeted 186K words and we are sitting on 300K. The culprits are Skills, The Enaros and Divine Influence, Spells, Orisons, the Ruins of Baradahm adventure and a few others. I don’t want to lose any of it. If we have to cut it we will make it available online and figure out how to make it physical, but I really believe it needs to be in the core book.
Getting on everyone’s schedules. I don’t want to squeeze this in just to “get it done”. I want to make sure the team has the time they need to do this properly to give you the product we promised (and more, hopefully).
Is It Playable With The Current Docs?
Gosh, I certainly hope so. My playtest team has been beating me up on your behalf, but I am confident you can grab it at play. Many of the chapters are in raw text form, so the layout can be unhelpful at times. Staring at Chapter 6, it walks you through creating a character with the Narosia Quickstart process. I have had a lot of positive feedback on this process by non-Hero gamers so I am confident that we hit the mark on this. If you run into any hiccups, let me know and we can catch any issues before publication. If you want to get in on the fun, head on over to Playtesting, fill out our form, and take a look.
Narosia Resource Kit
This is next on the plate. I have already drafted the adventure, Depths of Baradahm, and ran it at Origins. I am running the adventure at GenCon as well. We will be making a more detailed announcement about this once we get the Narosia core book published.
Really, you are going to do another Kickstarter? Absolutely, but my approach will be different. Getting the Narosia story assembled properly was essential and unfortunately I was the only one that could do it. When we started this project that was not the case, but I made the decision to forge ahead as a single point of failure and the impact to our deliverables is clear. However, moving forward we will not face those same challenges. I now have a core book to stand on and will look to leverage other more seasoned writers to carry future products forward. Additionally, when we launch the Narosia Resource Kit Kickstarter the project will be completed and downloadable — we will use the Kickstarter to fund layout, printing, art, and as many creative stretch goals as we can, but the core product will be written to completion.
As an example, here is the overview map for the Depths of Baradahm, sequel to the Ruins of Baradahm adventure included in the book. I commissioned this in anticipation of our work on the resource kit.

Thank You!
Thank you again and a thousand times more. I am honored to get the support I did to make this project happen and I am thankful for your patience in getting it to this point. Let’s finish this up and set forth into the wilds of Narosia! See you at GenCon if you can make it!
